ACL – The importance of Prehab and Rehab

A great course last night with Dr Lee Herrington highlighting the importance of ACL prehab and rehab. An ACL injury in one of the most common knee injuries, statistics show that 1 in 29 female athletes and 1 in 50 male athletes will tear their ACL (Montalvo et al 2019).

Pre-operative status is one of the most important factors in determining the strength and return to sport post operation. Prehab is important!  The stronger your leg is before the surgery the stronger and more effective your rehab will be after surgery.

In non-elite sporting individuals 39% returned to the same level of sport, 28% returned at a lower level, and 32% did not return to sport at all (Filbay et al) after their ACL reconstruction.

Make sure you commit to both prehab and rehab of your ACL, we’re here to help you achieve the best possible outcome, get you back to sport and maintain your quality of life.

Call us on 01302 321245 to see how we can help!

Prehab and rehab exercise programmes can be provided and emailed to you, as telephone consultations are also available.
