Inclusivity

Sep 27, 2022

At Chapman Physiotherapy we pride ourselves on providing a fully inclusive service.  We want our practice to be accessible for everyone.  Our treatment rooms are completely private and all consultations are fully confidential.

We have an equal mix of male and female practitioners and fully understand that you may have a preference.  Once you tell us, we can make sure that this is recorded own your file and you will never be put with any practitioner that you are not completely comfortable with.

With over 15 years experience of private practice, you can be sure that we have worked with a wide range of medical conditions, mental health issues, cultures, religions and genders.  We aim to be respectful and treat everyone with the dignity and privacy they deserve.  If you have had physiotherapy before, you may be aware that we often ask you to remove layers of clothing in order to see the affected area and assess it fully.

Whilst we would never ask you to remove underwear, we are also aware that some people are uncomfortable undressing down to a bra for example.  Vest tops, shorts and sports wear are all suitable alternatives, but if you’re still unsure please do give us a call and ask to speak to a physiotherapist.  If no-one is available we will always call you back to discuss any fears or anxieties.

In order for you to get the most out of your physiotherapy session, you need to feel completely relaxed and at ease with the process.  We would much rather be aware of any concerns prior to the session so that we can do our utmost to provide the best possible care.

You will see on your registration form that you have a ‘Do not contact GP’ option.  This is to ensure that we do not contact your GP without your permission.  We do not routinely send out discharge letters to your GP, but at times we may feel that further investigation is required.  This may be an x-ray or onwards referral, but usually requires your GP’s authority to proceed.  On these occasions we would always discuss this with you and you are very welcome to collect a copy of the letter or even request to see it before it is sent.  This may of course lead to a slight delay in action, however we want to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the content.

So, whatever your needs, you can be sure that we are willing to work with you to deliver the best possible care and if you have any questions which have not been covered above, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
