Elly graduated with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University in 2016. She moved to Sheffield and started work at Rotherham General Hospital as a rotational Band 5 Physiotherapist. Alongside this she worked with Armthorpe Welfare FC providing training and match day cover and City of Sheffield Swim Squad providing sports massage to the Senior swimmers and with the younger age groups work on posture and injury prevention with the juniors as developing one of her main areas of interest in sporting related injuries and sports rehabilitation.
In addition to her NHS role, in 2018 she joined Rotherham United as an Academy Physiotherapist covering training sessions and weekend matches for U7-U16 age groups. She worked alongside the Academy’s Sport Scientists, delivering injury prevention-specific warms ups twice a week with different age groups and completed the FA’s Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football.
In 2019, having completed 5 rotations at Rotherham General Hospital, she found her main interests and focus were musculoskeletal problems and sporting injuries and therefore left the NHS to work privately at Chapman Physiotherapy where since November 2020 she has been the Senior Physiotherapist.
From September 2019, Elly returned to the City of Sheffield Swim Squad working part-time as the club physiotherapist, providing physiotherapy, screening and sports massage to the Junior squads and supporting the Senior International swimmers as required.
Elly now works in Elite swimming, working with Swim England as one of the physiotherapists supporting the North East athletes. She attends training camps and is currently working with Swim England to prepare athletes aiming to go to the Commonwealth Games.
For those who have Healthshield insurance, Elly also has an ITEC Level 3 – Diploma in Sports Massage.
Elly works Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at Doncaster.
